Red Hook and the East End of St. Thomas
On the east end of St. Thomas U.S. Virgin Islands, there are many large resorts with beaches, some with
marinas as well. This is a wonderful area to begin or end your Virgin Islands vacation - with a hotel stay
Red Hook is the principal town on the east side of the island, and has large dock facilities. Named due to the
number of red-tiled homes and businesses that stand along the coastline, Red Hook is host to the Virgin
waters.
Beautiful beaches can also be found in the Red Hook area, including Vessup Bay, a sparkling white sand
beach popular with singles and couples, Bluebeard's Beach, a more laid-back stretch of white sand off the
beaten path, Sapphire Beach, part of a resort but open to the public with white sand and clear, warm, blue
water perfect for snorkeling. Not only can colorful fish be found but large turtles and beautiful coral. Finally,
Secret Harbor Beach, located in a small bay with calm water perfect for snorkeling, is an intimate and
romantic destination.
