St. Thomas, VI- November 7th-10th- The red carpet was rolled out for the attendees at the 33rd
Annual Virgin Islands Charteryacht League (VICL) show hosted by Yacht Haven Grande. Charter
yacht brokers from all over the world and the media enjoyed the exclusive experience of touring more
than three dozen yachts over the course of the three day fall charter show. This year’s show had a
large number of attendees and sponsors confirming a renewed interest in VICL and the U.S. Virgin
Islands.
“The quality of attendees and the support of the local marine community at the VICL show is better
than it’s been in years”, said the heads of the Show Committee. “With the steady flow of qualified
yacht charter brokers, attendance was exactly what we were hoping for.” The President of VICL
commented, “This event proved very productive for us and created an amazing amount of excitement
about the chartering a yacht in the U.S. Virgin Islands.”
The show kicked off its grand opening at the world-class marina with the Governor, local officials
and the U.S. Virgin Islands Dept. of Tourism showing their support at the Cocktail Gala. The new V.I.
Government is committed to creating a renewed interest in chartering in the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Events during the show also included a party held at Paradise Point with gondola transportation
provided by St. Thomas Skyride. The final night of the show featured a raucous Pirate’s Buccaneer
Ball & Costume Party, Captain’s Blender Competition and dancing under the stars at yacht Haven
Grande.
Launching the charter season, Yacht Haven Grande, nestled in Long Bay, St. Thomas offered the
charter yacht brokers an ideal relaxed atmosphere for viewing millions of dollars worth of yachts in
the charter industry. This year’s show featured a variety of activities, events, and seminars, keeping
visitors entertained and informed.
