Welcome to the Virgin Islands
Charter Yacht League
U.S. Virgin Island closest to the British Virgin Islands. The smallest and least populated of the three main
guarantees that the island's shoreline as well as the hundreds of coral gardens that surround St. John remain
pristine.
St. John's rocky coastline includes beautiful crescent-shaped bays and white-sand beaches. Miles of hiking
trails can be found inland, leading past the ruins of 18th-century Danish plantations such as the Annaberg
Plantation which contains a well-marked tour of the remnants of an old sugar plantation, including the sugar
mill, boiling vats, slave houses, and other buildings.
The Reef Bay hiking trail, maintained by the Park Service, passes by ancient petroglyphs on its way to more
sugar mill ruins and a beach. These ancient symbols were carved into the rocks in the mountainside, and the
identity of the authors and an explanation of why and what they mean is still debated to this day.
In the park, Trunk Bay has an underwater snorkeling
trail with signs indicating fish, corals and other critters
your other snorkeling adventures on St. John. There are
challenging, especially when you factor in the bright
Caribbean sun! There are often park activities going on,
archeological sites, or beach nature walks. A schedule is
available at the activities center in Cruz Bay.
Your USVI based charter yacht will likely stay one night
the variety of activities available in the park.
