VICL
VICL INFO:
Great St. James, USVI
Great St. James is a small island just off the southeast tip of St. Thomas U.S. Virgin Islands, and
on its sheltered westward side, is a small bay named Christmas Cove.
Legend has it that about 35 years ago, this cove was the site of a huge potluck Christmas dinner
between the cruising families who were visiting the warm waters of the Virgin Islands. This dinner
became an annual event among these sailors, and was just referred to as Christmas Cove from
then on.
With a small inlet in the middle of the cove, it offers an easy snorkel from your yacht charter, as well
as good diving on the Stragglers, a rocky outcropping leading south from the island of Great St.
James itself. Christmas Cove is a common overnight anchorage, depending on weather, and you
will no doubt see other charter yachts also anchored there or sailing past.
