Virgin Islands Charteryacht League Mission Statement

Our mission statement is:

“The Virgin Islands Charteryacht League is a nonprofit organization whose objective is to
improve the crewed yacht charter business in the Virgin Islands through public relations,
advertising and promotion.

The purpose of this organization is to act as a voice for the charteryachts to ensure the
promotion of yachting vacations. We will also work to protect the mutual interests of the industry.
The Virgin Islands Charteryacht League’s principle objectives are:

1. To promote and encourage charteryacht vacations in the Virgin Islands and increase public
awareness.

2. To provide members services such as merchandise discounts, insurance discounts and
increase buying power to help yachts increase their profitability.

3. To ensure that the highest standards of professionalism are met by our member yachts. To
promote the mutual interests of our membership and facilitate smooth and favorable business
practices for crewed yachts.

4. To represent and be the voice for our members in addressing licensing issues, Coast Guard,
DPNR and Customs & Immigrations regulations. To reach out to our government and tourism
to help them gain a better understanding of our industry.”

New VICL Board of Governors to be Announced!
The VICL Board of Governors and Flagship are pleased to
introduce our new Director- Erik Ackerson:

Originally from Kansas City where he was a professional chef then
a food service territory sales manager, Erik made the Virgin Islands
his home in 1998 taking over the reigns as General Manager of
Quality Food Corporation until it was sold last year.
As current President of the Texas Society of the Virgin Islands, one of the largest and most popular
fund raising events of the year, it has been the community involvement and money raised for local
on-island charities through the annual Chili Cook Off that brings him the greatest satisfaction and
finds him busy during the month of August.

As a Water Island resident, he is a member of the W.I. Search and Rescue, W.I. Civic Association,
Navy League as well as a Red Cross volunteer. When not enjoying a swim at Honeymoon Beach,
painting watercolors or reading, he is out cutting back the jungle & beautifying the landscape of the
Harbour View Gardens Bed & Breakfast.

A love of the water and sailboats mean VICL is a perfect fit for advancing the betterment of the local
charter business in the Virgin Islands.
